Me in three images

This, my very first excersise in an architectural studio entails the creation of a blog and self description through three images.

A great piece of architecture

The louvre’s glass pyramid is situated in an intriguing predicament amongst the classical context, once the subject of controversy it has become more synonymous with the city then the museum itself. The main pyramid was originally proposed as a solution for circulation issues upon entry, with three smaller counterparts positioned to create guiding light shafts for each of the separate collections. The structure, despised by many, was described as an ancient Egyptian symbol of death, however it seems to represent a gentle, practical and necessary modernisation of Parisian iconography. There exists a respectful aspect about the glass panelling which doesn’t alter, disguise or overshadow the colour and silhouette of the surrounding buildings, which combined with the intricate metalwork allows a unique standalone appreciation; for what was conceived as a supporting building.

An original picture of something beautiful

Housed in the canopic gardens near Changi international airport, this crocodile is amongst various sculptures crafted from live floral arrangements. It officially resides in the Jewel shopping complex which is itself a prime example of sustainable and neo-futuristic architectural styles. The beauty within this specific sculpture relates its internal dissonance and appropriacy within the park itself. Semantically crocodiles are associated with their murky camouflage, sharp features and scaly texture, all of which are subverted in its construction. The bright warm colours inquire attention, as rounded teeth and a large cartoonish eye draw one in to touch and appreciate its soft floral skin. There still remains tension but after first contact, a sigh of relief heralds a beautiful appreciation for the work. This artwork is obviously appropriate superficially, but also on a deeper level due a similar tension created pervasive modernism within the airport, it invites onlookers to similarly embrace and appreciate the architecture of the jewel shopping complex.

My best creative work

The short story above is my creative piece for HSC extension English, an example of a short Sci-fi writing it tampers with archetypes and perspectives to provide unique didacticisms about modern society. Written during an impromptu class task it was constantly improved over the course of the whole year, slowing overcoming all previous creative endeavours.

Begun translating mys section into a 3D Design, currently the exterior of the upper floor and gallery is complete. Two Stairs need to be either redesgined or added, and lansdcape modelling is incomplete. Basic progression in the build is shown through the images below. The following section has been chosen for construction. Diffuse Striation The hexagonal dome was the most obious part of the section and so was intially constructed, a smaller dome being madw within to act as a sort of photography studio for the Kyza. The stright parts of the section were elongated into a trapezoidal shape to accomodate a geodesic structure at the edge. The edges expand to emphasise the experience of the widening of the space and the panoramic views of the landscape offered. The first floor was similarly articulated with basic geometric shapes and considerations for natural lighting through galss windows.  To increase the complexity of the stuructre curves were added into the roof  to metonomise...

The 3D model is almost complete textures and materiality still remain, along with the sloping of the gorund as well as the completeion of online activites regarding the model (including adding the custom textures), depending on time constraints I will endevour to reder this in Lumion.  Work proceded on the model as external components were brought in to imply usage for the spaces on the floor above.  These componets were veichles and car lifts imported from Sketch Up's native 3d warehouse, and are credited in the photos below. Stairs from the first submission were brought in and integrated, to help define access to the above and below levels. The Monolithic cieling of the vestibule was given character with intircate roof art to create textures and depth. A ramp up to the Kyza was installed in the centre of the gallery, whilst the stairs remian ofsset to the left, a sort of symbol prioritizing the access of cars to the first floor rather than that of people. My name is Sehaj. I study civil engineering with architecture at UNSW. I don’t want to scare you away! But I prefer you experience this blog personally and intimately. I post for expression, and your viewing pleasure, it’s quite exiting! This will grow as I do, so I extend you an invitation take a look around, make yourselves at home and interact, with what’s on show! To those of you kind enough, I invite you to click the posts and read between the lines(literally!) Hi! My name is Sehaj . I study civil engineering with architecture at UNSW . I am slowly increasing my sentence length for your comfort. As this description goes on my sentences will exponentiate, becoming increasingly complex and intricately detailed. But until then I write simply. This is because I don’t want to scare you away! As we progress, I’d have you note the decreasing formalcy of my tone. Cause I’d prefer you experience this blog personally and intimately . As is...
